Hello, Refugees! Kindle Edition
To find out the secret behind this turn of character, Tuvia Tenenbom, a Jew born in Israel, presented himself as a Jordanian and was able to gain entry into many refugee camps. Living in squalid conditions in airless rooms, and with barely edible food, the refugees begged Tuvia to help them get out of the camps. When not with the refugees, Tuvia traveled through the land and mingled with the local people who shared with him that they, the Germans, were the kindest people in Europe, far superior to the "inhumane” Jews.
Tuvia Tenenbom's provocative re-enactment of the refugee reality in the middle of Europe, coupled with the rising anti-Semitism of the people who proclaim themselves to be kind, exposes the hypocrisy of the "Refugees Welcome" mantra chiming throughout the Western world.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2024"Hello, Refugees!" is a stunning testament to resilience and humanity, offering readers a deeply moving narrative that resonates on multiple levels. The book presents an authentic and empathetic portrayal of the refugee experience, capturing both the struggles and triumphs of those who have been forced to flee their homes. The author’s ability to weave together personal stories with broader social and political commentary makes this book both engaging and enlightening.
What sets "Hello, Refugees!" apart is its genuine compassion and insightful perspective. It doesn’t shy away from the harsh realities faced by refugees but balances these with stories of hope and perseverance. The narrative is both educational and inspiring, encouraging readers to reflect on their own roles in fostering a more inclusive and supportive world. This is a must-read for anyone interested in understanding the refugee experience through a lens of empathy and solidarity.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2017To begin with, I have read this and the previous two books by Mr. Tenenbom in which he engages in first-person antagonizing of his interviewees. His methods are provocative and somewhat unethical, as he frequently lies about his national and religious identity in order to get his subjects' truest feedback. I have serious questions about whether the people he is interviewing are giving their truest answers, or the one they believe are likeliest to satisfy the correspondent. For that alone, his books should be banished, or at least get no more than a single star.
THAT said, the books are extremely entertaining, and the author should get double-stars for his willingness to tackle identity politics in a depth that no one else seems to address.
This volume in particular deals with the issue of the tremendous influx of refugees in Germany since 2015. He speaks with economic, political, and ethnic refugees; politicians; non-politicians ... the whole gamut. If you are interested in politics, economics, refugees, immigration, or identity politics, then you are sure to find his works fascinating.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2020In the aftermath of reading “Catch The Jew”- I needed more. So I bought this book expecting a similar experience as CtJ. Something felt missing, however, it is written in the same style as CtJ, and had an interesting topic, but it was missing a lot of the humor evenly sprinkled throughout CtJ (read ch. 24 and you’ll see what I mean). Nevertheless there were still times I found myself unable to put this book down; the pages tend to turn themselves. I believe this book could make interesting political chats, though the topic is nowhere near as discussed as it was a few years ago so you may be out of luck.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2018Brilliant book, just like his others, you can't put it down, read with mouth wide open, says it as it is
I would live to see a movie version, to see Tuvia in action

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!
Informative and written with humour. Shows the issues and leave interpretation to the reader. Recommended to read as the newspapers do not properly or at all report on this, and definitely not in that detail.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
I read some of his other books and this one I think I liked the most. As usual written funny and entertaining. He speaks to everyone and lets people speak their mind, without pushing any own agenda as sadly many other journalists do. Great and very interesting book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thought-provoking
Why does no-one else in our media do what Tuvia Tenenbom does? Instead of lazily conforming to popular self-delusion he makes his own opportunities to interview the people who are the subjects or victims of our myths and reports what others choose to ignore.

Fact is stranger than fiction! The beauty of this book is that the author is a perfect guide with language fluency and he guides the reader deeply into a Germany that has welcomed more than a million middle eastern refugees for whom there are no jobs nor homes.
